Angel food cake


  • 1.5 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 cup sifted cake (or AP) flour
  • 1.5 cups egg whites (12 large eggs)
  • 1.5 tsp cream of tartar
  • .5 tsp vanilla
  • .25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Description: The most simple cake you can make, and also one of the lightest and most delicious!


  1. Mix powdered sugar and cake flour and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl beat egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla, and salt until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add in sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold in 1/4th of the flour sugar mixture and fold in.
  5. After incorporating, repeat until all the flour sugar mixture is incorporated.
  6. Do NOT grease the cake pan. Bake in a 350F degree oven for 60 minutes or until done. Invert cake pan, cool, and remove cake.
